Vancouver, BC

We design buildings with our clients, not for them.

Unison is a boutique Vancouver studio designing structures that are both beautiful and built to work. Our projects range from small residential builds and mid-sized health centres to larger administrative and office buildings, cultural centres, hotels, commercial projects, custom homes, and anything in between. If you're looking for quality work and local knowledge, we'd like to hear from you. We start with consultation, not an off the shelf template — and back it with the technical depth usually found only at much larger firms, so buildings cost less to run and last for generations.

How we work

The process is the thing that is different.

  1. 01

    Listen first

Needs assessments, Programming, Feasibility Study, community consultations, research and detailed site analysis, before any drawing that matters. The brief is arrived at with the client/ community, not handed to them.

  2. 02

    Design and test

Those inputs become sketches and diagrams, then get tested and iterated using building information modelling, laser cutting, 3D printing and virtual reality — so people can see the building before it is built.

  3. 03

    See it through

Full service from feasibility to post-construction. Detailed coordination with clients, consultants and builders is what keeps the building that was agreed the building that gets made.

No design moves forward without the client's or community's approval. We work collaboratively, with our clients engaged throughout the process. That review gate is part of how we work, and it is the part a competitor cannot copy by writing the same sentences. More about how we work.

Consultation

Start with a conversation.

Tell us about the community, the site and what the building needs to do. We will come back to you about how a consultation could work.
